Dennis Clements
Dennis Clements was born on December 8, 1956 into a musical family. At age 2, he began his music ministry, singing “Onward Christian Soldiers” with his older brother, Jim. Since then, he received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Wichita State University (1980) and a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (Audio Engineering and Music Composition) Degree from American University in Washington, DC (1987).
His first foray into composition was in 1969 as a seventh grader when he wrote a love song and accompanied himself on guitar in the annual Talent Show. Sadly, this masterful work has been lost to posterity, but the attention he received nudged his interest toward a career in music. He has written many songs for churches where he has worshipped, and some of his songs have been shared from Turkmenistan to Santiago, Chile.
Since 2001, he has served as a church choir director and has turned his attention to choral composition and arranging. Some of those efforts have gained interest beyond the churches where he has served, which brings him great joy. In fact, he says that he can find no greater satisfaction than knowing that one of his songs has helped someone draw a bit closer to God.
