Ed Rush
Ed Rush, born William Edward Rush, in 1942, is a retired Minister of Music, having served his last church, First Baptist Church of Demopolis, Alabama for 18 years. He had served churches in Alabama and Kentucky for a total of 51 years until his retirement in 2013. In addition to serving FBC, Rush has directed the Demopolis Singers on two different blocks of time for a total of 12 years.
While serving the Southside Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, Rush also directed the Montgomery Singing Ministers, a group of Baptist Ministers of Music from the churches in the Montgomery Baptist Association. Rush received his Bachelor of Science degree in Church Music from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and his Masters of Church Music from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
Rush’s compositions have been published since 1978 with The Baptist Sunday School Board (now Lifeway), Lorenz Music Publishing, SoundForth Music, and Shawnee Press. Rush now resides with his wife Bobbie in Demopolis, Alabama.
They have a grown Daughter, Sherri R. Campbell, a grown son, Steven Rush, and three grandchildren, Abbi, Maddi, and Dawson Rush. He is a member of ASCAP, the Alabama Singing Men, and plays trombone with the RiverCity Community Band and Market Street Jazz ensemble, both in Demopolis. He continues to serve in the music program of FBC, Demopolis.
